TRANSPORT

Revolutionizing transport with expert solutions
OVERVIEW
Port and rail infrastructure in South Africa was historically an efficient mode of transport – hauling goods and commodities over strategic routes across the country and across national borders. The reliability of the rail and port transport infrastructure has deteriorated – a result of a backlog in infrastructure and maintenance investment of the existing infrastructure. Significant investment is required to reposition the transport industry across various supply chains to enable industrialization and trade development both domestically and across the border.

With the success of the South African Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (RE - IPPPP) in the energy industry, there is potential for the PPP model to be successfully adapted and implemented in the transport industry. PPPs will enable the development, construction, maintenance and security of transport infrastructure through the implementation of trusted methodology and technology.
